Product Description

CP7040D54 upgrade car break pad CP9040 caliper pad HP1000 for Mitsubishi triton/Jeep Grand Cherokee/Discovery

Brake pads are also called brake skins. In the automobile braking system, the brake pad is the most critical safety part. The brake pad plays a decisive role in all braking effects. Therefore, a good brake pad is the protector of people and cars.

The brake pad is generally composed of steel plate, adhesive insulation layer and friction block. The steel plate shall be coated to prevent rust. Smt-4 furnace temperature tracker is used to detect the temperature distribution in the coating process to ensure the quality. The thermal insulation layer is composed of non heat transfer materials for thermal insulation. The friction block is composed of friction materials and adhesives. When braking, it is squeezed on the brake disc or brake drum to produce friction, so as to achieve the purpose of vehicle deceleration and braking. Due to friction, the friction block will be worn gradually. Generally speaking, the brake pad with lower cost will wear faster. After the friction materials are used, the brake pads shall be replaced in time, otherwise the steel plate will be in direct contact with the brake disc, which will eventually lose the braking effect and damage the brake disc.

When do you need to change the brake pads?

The replacement time period of brake pads and brake discs is not fixed, which depends on the driving conditions of the vehicle, the frequency and strength of the driver's brake pedal. Generally, the replacement mileage of conventional brake pads is about 25,000-30,000 kilometers per driving.

01. Brake pad thickness is too low

02. Instrument indicator light alarm

03. Wear indicator touches brake disc

04. Brake pad is covered with oil

05. Generate severe wear

06. Abnormal wear of brake pad

Suitable tools.

When replacing the brake skin, we will use jack, appropriate socket wrench, ring wrench, screwdriver, sandpaper, grease, etc. Some vehicles are generally equipped with tools, such as Jack and cross sleeve for tire removal; Some need to buy their own. All tools and brake skin parts can be purchased online.

With all the tools and parts, we can start to replace the brake skin. We can loosen the fastening bolts of all wheels by half a turn without completely unscrewing them. Before lifting the vehicle, it is easier to loosen the wheel bolts by using the friction between the tire and the ground, which is why we did this in the first step.

Install brake pads

The brake cylinder of the disc brake used in general vehicles is fastened on the cylinder support through two bolts, and the cylinder support is fastened on the swing bearing through two bolts. To replace the brake skin, we only need to remove the two bolts fastening the brake cylinder.

After loosening the two bolts, we can remove the brake cylinder. Since there is a soft hydraulic pipeline on the brake cylinder, be careful not to pull it too hard. Just put it on the front axle suspension next to it.

Next, we need to polish the brake skin and chamfer the edge of the contact side between the brake skin and the brake disc. In the maintenance operation of only replacing the brake skin without replacing the brake disc, if the brake skin is not polished, abnormal brake noise will be generated. This is because there is a groove on the old brake disc, which is the wear of the old brake skin on the brake disc; The old brake disc with the new flat brake skin will produce abnormal noise because the friction surface is too small. When replacing the brake skin and brake disc at the same time, we do not need to polish the chamfer and install it directly.

Before installing the brake skin, we need to push the protruding piston of the brake cylinder inward, so as to install a thicker new brake skin. In order to prevent the brake oil from overflowing when the brake oil pot pushes the piston inward, it is recommended to extract part of the brake oil from the brake oil pot, replace the brake skin, and then add an appropriate amount of brake oil according to the liquid level of the oil pot. It should be noted here that different types of brake oil cannot be mixed (such as dot3 and DOT4), so the owner had better add corresponding brake oil when adding.

Next, let's put the brake skin on the wheel cylinder support and note that the inner and outer brake skin cannot be interchanged. Then, we can clamp the brake cylinder to the cylinder bracket.

Finally, screw on the brake cylinder bolts and tighten them with a torque wrench. Generally speaking, the tightening torque of the brake cylinder bolt is 20-30 nm. Refer to the maintenance manual of relevant models for specific parameters. After the brake skin is installed, the wheel can be installed. Remember to tighten the wheel bolts after the wheel is installed. The standard tightening torque of the wheel bolts is 110-140 nm. Refer to the maintenance manual of relevant models for specific parameters
