Product Description

Auto Brake Pads Brembo BM8 Pad Depth D70mm For 8 Pots Brake Caliper

Common brake pads are asbestos type brake pads and non asbestos friction brake pads. Asbestos free friction materials are divided into the following categories:

① Semi metallic friction materials are used for disc brake pads of cars and heavy vehicles. Its material composition usually contains about 30% to 50% iron metal material (such as steel fiber, reduced iron powder, foam iron powder). Semi metallic friction materials are therefore named. It is the first asbestos free material developed to replace asbestos. Its features: good heat resistance, high absorbed power per unit area and large thermal conductivity. It can be applied to the braking working conditions of vehicles under high-speed and heavy load operation. However, it has some disadvantages, such as high braking noise, edge and corner embrittlement and so on.

② Nao friction material. In a broad sense, it refers to non asbestos non steel fiber friction materials, but the current disc also contains a small amount of steel fiber. In most cases, the base material in Nao friction materials is a mixture of two or more fibers (inorganic fibers and a small amount of organic fibers). Therefore, Nao friction material is a non asbestos mixed fiber friction material. Generally, the brake pad is a short cut fiber friction block, and the clutch plate is a continuous fiber friction plate.

③ Powder metallurgy friction materials. Also known as sintered friction material, it is made of iron-based and copper based powder materials by mixing, molding and sintering at high temperature. It is suitable for braking and transmission working conditions under high temperature. For example: braking and transmission of aircraft, trucks and heavy construction machinery. Advantages: long service life; Disadvantages: high product price, large braking noise, heavy and brittle, and large dual wear.

④ Carbon fiber friction material. It is a kind of friction material made of carbon fiber as reinforcement. Carbon fiber has the characteristics of high modulus, good thermal conductivity and heat resistance. Carbon fiber friction material has the best performance among various types of friction materials. Carbon fiber friction pads have high power absorption per unit area and light specific gravity. They are especially suitable for the production of aircraft brake pads. Some foreign high-end car brake pads are also used. Because of its high price, its application scope is limited and its output is less. In the components of carbon fiber friction materials, in addition to carbon fiber, graphite and carbon compounds are also used. The organic binder in the components should also be carbonized, so carbon fiber friction materials are also called carbon carbon friction materials or carbon based friction materials.

How Often Should You Carry Out A Brake Caliper Replacement?
Brake calipers are usually quite resilient and don’t require frequent replacements.

Brake calipers are designed to last the lifetime of a vehicle if taken care of properly. However, due to road conditions, environmental factors, and driving habits, they will inevitably see their share of wear and tear. If you have a modern vehicle, your brake caliper can likely last at least 100,000 miles or 10 years.

Additionally, your brake pad thickness and brake fluid levels directly impact your brake calipers’ performance.

How?

Over time, corrosion and debris can build up on your brake pads, and this could prevent them from sliding out of the brake grooves when you release the brake pedal. This can result in a stuck caliper which prevents uniform braking action, causing your car to pull to one side.

If the brake fluid level is low or air has seeped into a brake line, your vehicle’s brake calipers wouldn’t be as effective as they used to be and can quickly become damaged.

How Much Does Brake Caliper Replacement Cost?
The cost of brake caliper replacement varies depending on your car’s make and year.

In general, you can expect to pay between $300 and $800 for your caliper replacement — this includes the cost of purchasing a replacement caliper as well as the labor to install it.
