How to choose automobile brake oil and brake fluid?

 

Brake oil is also called brake fluid. To judge the advantages and disadvantages of brake fluid, we should start from several properties: boiling point, kinematic viscosity, lubrication performance, anti-corrosion protection performance and adaptability to rubber. Only by understanding the working state of brake fluid in principle can we better select brake fluid.

 

Boiling point:

 

This is the most important indicator of brake fluid properties, because water absorption is inevitable in the service environment of the vehicle. With the increase of water in the brake fluid, the boiling point of the brake fluid will gradually decrease. When the vehicle is braked, the generated friction heat energy will heat up the brake fluid due to heat conduction and exceed 150 ℃. When the temperature of the brake fluid exceeds its boiling point, compressible vapor gas resistance will be generated in the fluid, so that the force applied by the brake pedal cannot be transmitted to the brake fluid cylinder. Therefore, in order to avoid the generation of air resistance, a good brake fluid must have a high boiling point and reduce the boiling point after absorbing water, so as to avoid braking failure due to too high temperature.

 

Kinematic viscosity:

 

it belongs to the second important attribute index of brake fluid, that is, we often say high-temperature viscosity and low-temperature fluidity. Here, it is more important to look at the low-temperature fluidity of brake fluid. Because the fluid with low viscosity is easier to transmit pressure than the fluid with high viscosity, the viscosity of good brake fluid will not be very thick and the kinematic viscosity is low at low temperature, so as to ensure that the pressure generated by stepping on the brake pedal can be transmitted to the brake in time even in cold conditions, so as to provide the best braking effect.

 

Lubrication performance:

 

good brake fluid can avoid friction and wear in the braking system, make the moving parts lubricated, reduce wear and prevent the accumulation of heat energy in the system.

 

Anti corrosion protection:

 

good brake fluid can protect various metal components in the system because it contains beneficial additives. It can prolong the service life of the brake oil pump while resisting oxidation and corrosion. The reduction of corrosion in the brake system will also reduce the blockage in the system and will not reduce the response speed of the brake system.

 

Adaptability to rubber:

Synthetic brake oil is a synthetic brake oil, which is mainly composed of polyether, water-soluble polyester and silicone oil, added with lubricants and additives. It has good performance, and the working temperature can be up to more than 200 ℃. It has little corrosive effect on rubber and metal. It is suitable for vehicles with high speed, high power, heavy load and frequent braking. Therefore, it has become the most widely used brake oil at present.
